ARABESQUE

This design is inspired by islimi. Islimi, or arabesque, is a style of decoration based on plant forms that emerged during Islam's Golden Age, between 750 and 1600 AD, and spread throughout the Islamic world. Like more purely geometrical patterns, it is governed by underlying mathematical principles derived ultimately from Euclidean Geometry, but it has a particular exuberance and freedom that comes from its celebratory evocation of the natural world. Here the rhythm and harmony of the lively biomorphic shapes, contained within a circle, express the universal principle of growth and renewal.
