LOTUS FLOWER

The idea of this design is to show the unfolding of the lotus flower from the side and from above simultaneously. The shape arises naturally from the geometry of overlapping circles. In Egyptian Mythology, the lotus flower was often used as a symbol of the sun itself, opening out by day and then sinking back down beneath the surface of the water at night. In the cosmology of the ancient city of Hermopolis, it was believed that the sun-god, Re, was born from a giant lotus blossom that first emerged from the primordial waters of Nun. The lotus flower has subsequently become a universal emblem of creation and renewal.
